Get to Know Our Team and Their Expertise

Chris Esseltine​

Founder & Managing Partner

Chris Esseltine is a seasoned healthcare attorney with deep experience in regulatory, transactional, and operational issues. Raised in Ontario Canada, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in political science before attending law school in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He worked in Washington, D.C. at Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), the trade association that represents the 36 largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. He then went on to practice at two large national law firms in their Healthcare and FDA departments. Mr. Esseltine ran his own law firm and consulting company focused on the healthcare industry and has worked as in-house counsel for several companies, including a billion-dollar health system in Nevada. He has represented companies ranging from start ups and solo practices to Fortune 500 corporations. 

Mr. Esseltine specializes in fraud & abuse compliance, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark, HIPAA, management services organizations (MSOs), med spas and other practices, FDA marketing/packaging/labeling, M&A, drafting healthcare contracts and other documents, and many other areas of healthcare and FDA law. 

Jacob Ferris

Partner & Head of Healthcare Transactions

Jacob Ferris has nearly 20 years of legal expertise specializing in regulatory and transactional matters. He also focuses on real estate and business law in the healthcare industry. This includes healthcare leases with Stark Law analysis, mergers and acquisitions, employment and other agreements, dispute resolution, negotiating purchases of property, and corporate organization. As the healthcare sector continues to expand, with new medical facilities, research centers, and specialized healthcare services across the country, Jacob has become well-versed in navigating the unique issues these entities face. Whether he is helping companies secure the right property for new facilities, guiding clients through compliance with state and federal regulations, or setting up new healthcare entities to comply with state laws, Jabob brings a deep understanding of the legal landscape to each case.

Rey Alonzo

Investigations, Public Relations

Rey brings a decade of experience in business, legal, and healthcare issues for corporate entities, law firms, and private lobbyist organizations. In the past, he has run business operations for multi-million-dollar companies, managing the workloads of sizeable legal teams. At KAP Law, Rey conducts all sorts of investigatory, regulatory, public relations, and other complex tasks for us. He is a bilingual Spanish speaker.

Sharon Riordan

Corporate Communications Director

With over 40 years of experience in customer service, Sharon has dedicated her life career to the needs of the client. She has proven to be an exceptional leader in this category and has worked for Fortune 500 companies while managing a staff of 50+. Beginning her career in the beauty industry, Sharon moved into the world of aesthetics and then found herself specializing in FDA law at a top healthcare law firm. While there, she found her passion. Today, Sharon represents KAP Law as our Executive Corporate Communication Specialist, providing top-tier customer care blended with extensive experience in FDA Law. We are proud to have her.
